Web Site Domains
A domain name is the Internet address where your Web site “lives”.
For example, the name of our Web site is http://www.WebByDesign.com. Of
course, the Internet actually “sees” this
name as a series of numbers, or the address of which computer to go to
in order to display the proper Web site. Now, it wouldn’t do us much
good if other people could use the same name. So domain names must be
registered for use. When Web By Design, Inc. registers a domain name
for one of our clients we always lock the domain and set it up on auto renewal
so you never have to worry about losing your domain due to expiration.
Domain Name Registration – Domain name registration is the process
whereby you stake your claim to the exclusive use of a domain name. When
you register a domain you must select a period of time (such as a year,
two years, etc…).
Domain Name Renewals – Once the period of time has expired the domain
must be renewed in order for you to keep. To prevent our clients from ever
losing their domain names we always domain lock and set the domain up for
auto renewal.
Domain Name Transfers – Domain names are registered through Registrars.
You may transfer your domain from one Registrar to another via a process
called domain name transfer. All of hosted clients are required to transfer
their domains to Web By Design, Inc. so that we have exclusive control over
the domain name.
Domain Name Brokering – If you want a particular domain name or have
a particular domain name and you want to either buy it or sell it we are
able to broker those services for you by directly contacting the individual
or business who owns the domain.
How much does our Web site domain registration, renewals, transfers
and brokering cost?
